1910 Fruitgum Company

1910 Fruitgum Company
Formed: 1966, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Basic line-up: Mark Gutkowski, Floyd Marcus, Par Karwan, Steve Mortkowitz, and Frank Jeckell.

In 1966 Frank Jeckell needed a new name for his group and found an old wrapper with the words 1910 Fruitgum on it. The group got together with the producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, who mastered the Bubblegum music at that time.

In 1967, 1910 Frutigum Company had an immediate hit with Simon Says (Number 2 in U.K., Number 4 in U.S. and Number 1 in Sweden). They also had big hits on the charts with '1-2-3 Red Light' and 'Indian Giver'.

Between 1968 and 1970, the group released five original albums in United States. None of them managed to get into the top 100 on the Billboard album list. 1910 Fruitgum Company disbanded in 1970, but since then original members Frank Jeckell and Floyd Marcus has put the group together again.
