Cover of Esquire from September 1965, created by George Lois.
The image is a collage of four faces, belonging to Bob Dylan, Malcolm X, Fidel Castro and John F. Kennedy. George Lois create a face of hero with the people he thought was the leading heroes in the eyes of young people at that time (“4 of the 28 who count most with the college rebels”).
The faces are divided (and joined) by the crosshairs of a rifle sight.
