The Who's first single, "I Can't Explain", was released in the U.S. by Decca Records in February, a month after the release in England. Helping out on guitar on this track was Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin). On the flip side you would find 'Bald Headed Woman', also recorded by the Kinks. A traditional song arranged by Shel Talmy.
"I Can't Explain" stopped at only #93 on the Billboard charts in the beginning of April. It did slightly better on Cash Box, reaching #57 after a lot of air time on local radio stations. But it was no hit in U.S.

On the U.K. charts, however, the single reached #8, making way to the Who's big success with My Generation only ten months later.
